Edmund Friedrich Bergmann is a son of Erna Bergmann, who is also listed in this memorial book. As Edmund Friedrich’s father there is Karl Handschuh recorded in the index of residents of the township of Neu-Isenburg. Edmund Friedrich was born on April 4, 1925 in Frankfurt am Main. As a toddler he stayed in the home of the Jewish Women's Association in Neu-Isenburg. However, the exact time of residence could not be detected so far. Edmund Friedrich probably lived here as a baby with his mother until May 18, 1926. Erna Bergmann stayed in the home from June 13 to July 21, 1924. In 1930 he came to the German-Israelite children's home in Diez/Lahn and went to Hindenburgschule, a public elementary school. On August 21, 1935 he was brought to the Israelite Orphanage in Röderbergweg 87 in Frankfurt/Main with all male residents. After the German-Israelite children's home was closed down on August 20, 1935 during a kind of pogrom.
Edmund Friedrich Bergmann survived the Shoah. He succeeded to leave for Palestine. He married in 1957 and has three children and ten grandsons and granddaughters.
On August 20, 2020 a Stolperstein was layed down in the memory of the children's home.
