Werner Frank was the brother of Hans Frank, who is also listed in this Memorial Book. His mother was Erika Irmgard Selma Frank, born on March 31, 1904, in Altenglan, daughter of cattle dealer Moritz Frank and his wife Bertha, nee Sweet. Probably right after his birth, Werner was brought to the Neu-Isenburg home of the Jewish Women's Association. In February 1931 he was living with a foster family in Bensheim. A month later he was re-registered to Lampertheim, where his mother lived. Werner probably lived in "Heim Isenburg" together with his mother and his brother for two months in April 1932, after the birth of his younger brother Hans. In June 1932, he returned to Lampertheim with his mother.

At the age of 13 years, on February 26, 1943, Werner Frank was deported from Berlin to the concentration and extermination camp Auschwitz. His mother, Erika Frank, was abducted in October 1940 to the concentration camp Ravensbrück. She was among the 1,600 women who were selected in the spring of 1942 at Ravensbrück concentration camp and murdered in Bernburg Euthanasia Centre. Erika Frank died on March 23, 1942, at the age of 35 years.

The Memorial Book entry could be amended by the assistance of Adam Schütz, Bensheim, Hubert Simon, city archivist in Lampertheim, and Volker Ochs, Saarbrücken.
